OF SOWING AND REAPING

"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a person sows, that shall he also reap." (Galatians 6:7)

It is not uncommon for some humans to demonstrate tendencies that leave very few in doubt that such humans believe that they are invisible. Such humans not only believe that they are invisible, they also act accordingly. They consider nemesis as nothing but fiction, and treat the issue of retribution with levity. Their approach to consequences, simply put, is lackadaisical. They live their lives as though they are at the peak of the power hierarchy of the whole universe. Such individuals indulge greatly in the present and the illusions it has got to offer. They give little or no thought about the future. They treat the future as though they have got it all secured. Yet in reality, humans lack the capability to predict or secure the future in such a way as to reverse the inevitable nature of the truth Galatians 6:7 reflects. But believe me, fellow humans, what goes round do come around eventually. Indeed, what one sows, one will sooner than later reap.

Remember the decree issued in the scriptures in the first chapter of the book of Exodus? The decree was issued for the killing of all male children born to Hebrew families in Egypt. Male children were to be killed at birth while their female counterparts were to be allowed to live. The intention behind the inhuman order was the weakening of the perceived backbone of a potential Hebrew rebellion towards the Egyptian masters. Some fortunate children like Moses managed to survive. Indubitably, not all the male children lived beyond few minutes or hours or days of their birth. The Egyptian lords probably thought they could do as they will. Like some humans, they probably subscribe to the questionable ideals that overstates the mastery of mankind over its own destiny. Ideals that makes humans arrogate the authority of Deity to themselves. Ideals that makes humans made from dust delude in megalomania. Ideologies that makes humanity accord Divinity contempt. They were soon to realize that for as long as one falls in the category of beings referred to as human, certain realities are just inevitable. The Egyptians probably overlooked the fact that it is as human to sow as it is to reap.

About eighty years after the ruthless enactment, a series of plagues were unleashed upon the land of Egypt. Guess what the tenth and final episode of the plague was. According to Exodus 12:29-30
"At midnight the Lord killed all the first-born sons in Egypt, from the king's son, who was heir to the throne, to the son of the prisoner in the dungeon; all the first-born of the animals were also killed. That night, the king, his officials, and all the other Egyptians were awakened. There was loud crying throughout Egypt, because there was not one home in which there was not a dead son."

Did someone just label this as coincidence? One may choose to regard it as such but who would believe that? We all knew better than that!

"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a person sow, that shall he also reap."

God bless.
