Now that you've been anointed (or ordained), do not rest on oars.  We did not receive God's unction so we can delude ourselves with the erroneous notion that we had reached the end of it all.  The anointing is not the end, rather it is a means to the end.  The anointing is for conquest.  Of course, whence comes the notion of conquest if there is no battle?  As pointed out, do not rest on your oars.  Receiving the anointing is like obtaining documents such as passport - it needs to be renewed.  For documents such as passport, it may take years before you can start thinking of renew it.  Not so for God's anointing.  In the case of the anointing, it is your responsibility to renew it constantly.  How often do you have to renew it ?  Let me tip you off                    "Because His compassions fail not.  They are new every morning;........ (Lamentations 3:22, 23)"

That is not to say you have to make it an early morning routine.  Actually, that is just to let you know how very often you will have to be recharging your Spiritual battery, else you lose charge even though you still possess the battery.  And what is more, the anointing is inexhaustible where it comes from.  Just like the steadfast love of the LORD it never cease.  And they come fresh too.  The effect after being filled ?  Wow!  So refreshing.  Want to know more about the river of the Spirit.
"...... "This water flows through the land to the east and the Jordan Valley and to the Dead Sea.  When it flows into the Dead, it replaces the salt water of that sea with fresh water.  Wherever the stream flows, there will be all kinds of animals and fish.  The stream will make the water of the Dead Sea fresh, and wherever if flows, it will bring life....... On each bank of the stream all kinds of trees will grow to provide food.  Their leaves will never wither, and they will never stop bearing fruit.   They will have fresh fruit every month, because they are watered by the stream that flows from the Temple.........."  (Ezekiel 47:8-12)
Make it a constant habit to renew your strength.  The unction has lots to do with strength.  The scripture stated
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13)
How do you think that strength is channelled into your being?  Through His Spirit, of course.
"The woman gave birth to a son and named him Samson.  The child grew and the LORD blessed him.  And the Spirit of the LORD began to move him ........"  (Judges 13:25)
".........behold, a young lion roared against him.  And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand:........"  (Judges 14:5-6)

Notice that "he rent him (a lion) as he would rent a kid"?  Get the message?  The message is loud and clear.  Seemingly difficult tasks become child play when the activity of the Spirit is intense.  And believe me, it will have nothing to do with any, of your attributes or assets.
"You will succeed, not by military might or by your own strength, but by My Spirit.  Obstacles as great as mountains will disappear before you."  (Zechariah 4:6,7)
"He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increases strength.  Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:  But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." (Isaiah 40:29-31)

Endeavour to foster environment that is conducive to receiving new and fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit.  Singing songs of praise and worship to God is a good medium to connect with His inexhaustible source of new and fresh anointing.  You can also endeavour to keep company of spirit-filled / spirit-led believers.  Listen to anointed sermons or songs on tape.  Read the scriptures regularly, and retain portions of it in your mind for reference and meditation afterwards.

The more time you spare to spend in His presence in prayer, fasting, praise-worship, fellowship, etc, the fervent the ministry of the Holy Spirit becomes.  The more anointing you accumulate, the hotter you become.  It will get to a point enemy forces will find you way too hot to handle.  Before you know it you are on fire for the LORD.  You become an embodiment of strength.  You become a reservoir of power that can be released anytime a challenge is faced.  Your potential of conquest in spiritual warfare is greatly heightened.  By reason of your status a storehouse of God's power, He may decide to toss you like a grenade into enemy territories.  And guess what?  You literally explode, causing damage to the kingdom and works of darkness, while bringing glory to the LORD.

Now back to the issue of not resting on our oars after being anointed.  Keep topping the anointing, else, long hours of service in the ministry may deplete it considerably.  If the anointing level drops to residual level, you may become vulnerable to the slightest temptation or attack.

Continually ask God to clothe your spirit with the armour of the LORD mentioned in Ephesians 6:11.
"Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench the fiery darts of the wicked.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication for all saints."  (Ephesians 6:11-18)
Specifically ask God to clothe your spirit with the entire armour.  It is very important to make this particular request an integral part of your daily prayer points.

Then comes the blood of Jesus.  Constantly plead the blood of Jesus over yourself, loved ones, household, property, ministry, etc.

On regular basis, anoint yourself, your ones, household, property with oil.  The anointing oil serves the same purpose as the blood in Exodus 12.  Anointing all points of entry / exit (notably doors and windows).  This exercise is of great importance especially when you sense the leading of the Holy Spirit to do so.

Avoid activities or environments that can quench or undermine the ministry of the Holy Spirit.  Watch those secret habits.  Pray them out and seek the LORD's help for deliverance.  Actually, as you cultivate the habit of regularly spending time in the LORD's presence, some issues in your life will be addressed and taken care of whether or not you notice it.  Many individuals have been rid of habits, ailments, and infirmities through continually seeking His face.  Deliverance does not come only by God ministering through human instruments; deliverance at times can be direct from God without employing a human medium.  Don't forget, the Most High God is the Father of Light, and in His presence darkness flees.  Where and when the presence of God is overwhelming, His power and Spirit proves equally overwhelming.  Hence, all other forces have to bow out.

We can not rest on our oars because Satan is still on the loose.  The book of Revelations pointed out that
"The devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone,........, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."  (Revelation 20:10)
Until the LORD finally apprehends Satan, he is still the wounded lion he's been known to be over the ages.
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walk about, seeking whom he may devour."  (I Peter 5:8)

Even though we are anointed, we can not take Satan for granted.  Keep in mind, he was instrumental to the fall of that anointed man of God called Samson.  He targeted some of the disciples of the Lord Jesus.  Being anointed does not make us lesser target of forces of darkness.  Satan still works through his agents: spirit beings (demons) and human beings (witchcraft, Satanists, occults, average person).  And in these last days, according to the scriptures, his activities will be intensified.  Until he and his cohorts are tossed into the fiery grave (lake of fire), we have to realise that we have to continue to
"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the LORD and in the power of His might." (Ephesians 6:10)

Cultivate the habit of deflecting all accolades, praise and commendation you may receive in your ministry to the LORD.  Otherwise, you develop swollen head.  This is quite conducive to arrogance, pride and judgemental attitude.  Do not forget that pride goes before a fall.  See your ministry as not yours but the LORD's; you are merely put in charge of a portion of His vineyard.  That does not mean that the vineyard is yours.  You are still accountable to God no matter how successful your ministry turns out to be.  Keep in mind the incidence recorded in Numbers 20:7-12.
"The LORD said to Moses, "Take the stick that is in front of the Covenant Box, and then you and Aaron assemble the whole community.  There in front of them all speak to that rock over there, and water will gush out of it.  In this way you will bring water out of the rock for the people, for them and their animals to drink."  Moses went and got the stick, as the LORD had commanded.  He and Aaron assembled the whole community in front of the rock, and Moses said, "Listen, you rebels!  Do we have to get water out of this rock for you?"  Then Moses raised the stick and struck the rock twice with it, and a great stream of water gushed out, and all the people and animals drank.  But the LORD reprimanded Moses and Aaron.  He said, "Because you did not have enough faith to acknowledge My holy power before the people of Israel, you will not lead them into the land that I promised to give them."  (Numbers 20:7-12)

Please, steer clear of all of all appearance of pride and ego.  Just as you will gladly acknowledge the deeds of humanity, likewise be prepared to be willing to acknowledge those of divinity.  Otherwise, your anointing may be greatly undermined.  That is the last  thing your  ministry needs.

God bless.
